Sarina’s GB Piece
January 24th, 2012 — klukowThis GB piece is in good ABACA form but is sightly more eclectic is style. It reminds me a bit of that broccoli, bacon, raisin salad. It's a mixture of very different ingredients, but it works!

This young lady has created a perfect example of what my 6th graders have been working on for several days in January, a simple rondo form (ABACA) instrumental piece. The goal was to learn, explore and display musical form.
Need: button
Students sit in regular classroom pattern.
One student, the listener, sits with his/her back to class.
Another student hides the button behind one student's back.
The listener guesses who has the button.
Three guesses.
When he/she gets it right, he/she gets to hide the button.
What you need: A button and a key.
Students sit in a circle, eyes closed and mailboxes in back.
One student goes around the circle and hides the button and the key.
With eyes still closed, the button person sings and then the key person sings.
The teacher tells the students to open their eyes.
The hider may choose the person to guess who has the button and who has the key.
He/she gets one guess, then another person is chosen until a student is correct.
The correct student gets to hide the button and the key.
Repeat and enjoy.
What you need: a penny
Students sit in a circle.
One student hides his/her eyes in another location.
Students pass the penny around the circle.
When the song is over, students sing, "We are ready. You may come."
Hiding student comes to circle and guesses who has the penny.
Three guesses!
The student who is hiding the penny is the new eye hider.
Repeat and enjoy.
